Our levels are designed for dancers to be in a few years before they are ready to progress to the next level! You will see three types of dancers in each level:
Summer Intensive is an amazing time for growth, inspiration, and artistry!
DSD’s Pre-Professional Ballet Summer Intensive, The Ballet Experience, takes place June 22-26. Pre-approval is required for participation in this program.
Intermediate - advanced level dancers are invited to participate in this pre-professional level ballet intensive. The intensive curriculum includes daily classes in repertoire, pointe technique, ballet conditioning, and more.
DAILY SCHEDULE SAMPLE
This will be a 75-90 minute class where dancers will complete barre and center work that specifically works on strengthening turnout, feet, hips, body placement, port de bras, and other technical and artistic components of ballet.
This class will focus on the technical aspects of pointe work, with movements performed at the barre and in the center of the room in pointe shoes.
*Please note experience on pointe is not required for this division of The Ballet Experience. Dancers who have not done pointe before will perform the same exercises as the dancers on pointe but will do them in flat shoes or bare feet. This will act as a foot/ankle conditioning class for these dancers, which will provide an added benefit in improving their foot/ankle strength which is crucial for balancing, jumping, and developing clean, beautiful lines in dance.
Classical Variations and Repertoire:
Students will learn variations (solos) as well as other corps de ballet (group) choreography from classical ballets. Dancers in the Advanced program who have pointe experience will learn these in pointe shoes. Dancers in the Intermediate program will learn these in flat shoes, unless invited by the instructor to learn it in their pointe shoes.
Students will discover artistry and build diversity through a series of speciality classes such as contemporary ballet, condoning for ballet, repertoire, audition skills and more!
This opportunity to train exclusively in ballet technique and see improvement is not to be missed. Early registration recommended. Class space is limited.
