Invite your family and friends to enjoy a spectacular performance starring YOUR dancer! Tickets may be purchased online, by phone or at the Pablo Center box office beginning May 1st.
The theatre box office will be open one hour prior to the performance on the day of the show. All tickets are reserved seating.
DSD's dress rehearsal allows the students to become familiar with the theater and feel comfortable with their performance, costume(s), and being onstage. Lighting, music cues, entrances, exits, formations, and all other logistics are rehearsed so the students have the best experience possible on stage.
Our rehearsals are relaxed, yet organized and timely. All rehearsals are dress rehearsals. Students should arrive in costume, with hair and makeup done. Once you are done rehearsing, you may leave.
Dancers are to arrive at the Pablo Center thirty minutes before their performance time in their first costume with their hair and makeup done.
Parents should bring their children to the backstage area. Our staff will direct them to their assigned dressing rooms where they will be checked in and placed under the supervision of their Backstage Volunteer(s) and/or teachers for the length of the performance. Dressing rooms will be stocked with various activities. After the finale, dancers will be available for pick up in their dressing rooms.
Dancers are NOT allowed to leave the backstage area during the performance for any reason. This is for your dancer’s safety to ensure all dancers are accounted for during the performance.
Names should be on all costumes, accessories, and dance shoes. We cannot guarantee the return of personal items left at the theatre.
Students are reminded to respect other students’ space and property in the dressing rooms. The students will spend more time in the dressing rooms than onstage, so keeping these areas organized and clean is important. A parent “pep talk” in this department goes a long way in preventing lost shoes and accessories.
Drinks (besides water) are not allowed in the dressing rooms. Drinking fountains are located nearby. Please limit snacks to portable, non-messy ones such as fruit snacks. Dancers are reminded not to go into the theater or lobby areas in costume before, during or after the shows.
Stage lights are very bright and can wash out features. In order to see every dancer’s sparkling eyes and smile, girls wear makeup for the Spring Recital: red-tone lipstick, blush, eye shadow, and mascara. For the boys, a little blush works well.
Uniform hairstyles are also required. All recreational dancers will wear their hair in a middle part low bun. Hair should be pulled back neatly and tightly and sprayed with plenty of hairspray to keep it in place and prevent wispy hairs. Competitive dancers will also wear a middle part low bun.
